Background of the Study
Social media platforms have revolutionized communication in recent years, providing individuals and communities with tools for self-expression, activism, and participation in democratic processes. In Nigeria, where governance and accountability are crucial issues, social media has emerged as a powerful tool for engaging citizens and shaping public perceptions of government actions. In Dutse LGA, Jigawa State, the role of social media in influencing public opinion on governance is particularly important as it provides citizens with an avenue to voice concerns, hold leaders accountable, and share information about government policies and actions. This study aims to explore how social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, and WhatsApp influence public perceptions of governance in Dutse, and the extent to which they empower citizens to engage in political discourse and hold their leaders accountable.
1.2 Statement of the Problem
